Is this good for removing leaves and burrs from a dog's coat?
Yes, as well as tangles and any trapped debris
Do the blades need to be sharpened?
No, the blades are not intended to be sharpened.
How does this compare to a furminator?
Some dogs did not like Furminator because it pulls their thick hair. This brush has one side where the teeth are pretty far apart. Use this side first until you get a lot of the loose hair off or until your dog gets used to it. Then turn it over and use the side with the teeth closer together to finish removing the loose hair. Most of our customers' dogs enjoy this product, they would not tolerate the furminator.
Is this brush as efficient on animals with a short fur length?
For the long-haired cat, this works well. With short-haired cats, it works less well, but did do a decent job at getting some mats out of the standard short haired cat. The very short haired cat, this doesn't do much for, it's more productive just to brush her.
Is the blade replaceable?
No. The blade is not replacable.
Can the comb scratch the pet's skin or pull the hair?
No, the tool is designed to never scratch the pet's skin. The brush teeth are rounded so they slightly massage the skin instead of scratching it. In the rest the comb works like usual human brush - if your moves are careful and gentle - it will not pull the hair.
Here are some advices:
1. Please comb only in the direction of hair growth.
2. To remove big mats, use multiple movements to gently pull the comb through the mat. Hold the hair close to the skin with your fingers to prevent pulling completely.
3. Start brushing at the end of the mat and work your way up for the best result. This comb has two sides of teeth with different density. Start with the 9 teeth side if your pet has thick undercoat and finish with the 17 teeth side.
How do I clean this rake?
It's very easy to clean. A reverse stroke onto a towel, cloth or paper, will remove it, usually with one stroke. If you are outside and running out of hands, you can turn it over and blow on it. The fur comes right off. Just remember, if there is a breeze, don't blow into the wind.
